Hi I’m Mason Merritt, a local artist and songwriter in the DFW area. I haven’t completed or published much work outside of being in bands with my dad and brother (Wicked Lazers) (College Fund) although I plan to publish finished work in the upcoming years. I’m currently working on a concept album in my bedroom about the medical condition “Synesthesia” which dissociates senses from individual perception. Someone might hear something they see or taste something they hear. It’s a condition often looked at as a disability, though I think it’s just an altered perception like any other way people might look at things differently. This is how we mistake reality for what it really is and for that we can create abstraction. These are the things I find are worth writing about and talking about, in the process of finding my voice.
